ਕੰਡਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਬਦਨਾਮ ਨੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਥੋਹਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਫੁੱਲ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਨੇ।

ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਲਈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੁੰਦੈ, ਗਏ ਲੋਕ ਇਹ ਭੁੱਲ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਨੇ।

 

ਕਲ੍ਹ ਜੋ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਮਕ ਭਰ ਜੀਭ ਬੁਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਰਹੇ ਸੀ

ਨੀਂਵੀਂਆਂ ਨੀਂਵੀਂਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ, ਲਟਕੇ ਲਟਕੇ ਬੁਲ੍ਹ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਨੇ।

 

ਮਿਹਰ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਦੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਕੁੱਝ ਤੇ, ਸੁੱਤੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਜਾਗ ਪਈ ਹੈ

ਡਿਗ ਕੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਅਕਾਸ਼ੀਂ ਉਡਦੇ, ਗਏ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੁਲ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਨੇ।

 

ਦੋਹੀਂ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਲੱਡੂ ਕੁੱਝ ਦੇ, ਕੁੱਝ ਦਾ ਲਾਰੇ ਬਣੇ ਸਹਾਰਾ

ਖਾਲੀ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਕੁੱਝ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਨੇ, ਔਕਾਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਨੇ।

 

ਕਲ੍ਹ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਥਲੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ, ਅੱਜ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਝੇ ਹੋਏ

ਧੇਲਾ ਰਹੀ ਨਾ ਕੀਮਤ ਅੱਜ ਉਹ ਘਾਹ ਦੇ ਤਿਣਕੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਨੇ।

 

ਮੈਂ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਦੀ ਟੱਕਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਿੱਕਲ਼ੇ ਹਨ ਚੰਗਿਆੜੇ

ਬਰਬਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਗਏ ਪਨਾਗਾ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਨੇ।

English Translation

That cacti, notorious for their thorns, bear flowers too,

And poison can act as nectar for some, are facts

That people seem to have forgotten today.

Those who moved around with a glitter in their eyes

And were greedily licking their lips yesterday

Carry gloomy, downcast eyes and hanging lips today.

With God’s blessings, sleeping destiny has smiled on some,

Others, who in the skies did soar, seem to be biting dust of now.

Favours profuse are raining on some

While others from false promises sustenance do receive;

Still others go about empty handed.

Assessment of their worth their reward doth determine.

Those who possessed all the merit are devoid of it now;

With their value reduced to less than a penny

No better than a blade of grass are they.

The clash of egos has generated only sparks, oh Panag,

Thus opening wide all the doors to disaster.
